What Happens To White Patches/Lines On Your Teeth After Whitening
White patches/lines
Sometimes your teeth may naturally have very faint white lines or patches that may be covered by saliva. At the end of the treatment, your teeth will be white from the whitening and they’ll be dry from keeping the mouth open for the half an hour.
While they’re dry, without the saliva, if your teeth already have any of those white patches or lines, they’ll just stand out a bit more for 2-3 days. As your teeth rehydrate and saliva builds up during that time, they’ll blend back down.
During this phase of rehydration, it is important to steer clear of any staining food/drinks. Yes, that means no coffee, tea, red wine, or red based pasta sauces for four days! This also includes smoking. It may be difficult, but we promise it will be worth it. The duration your results last are highly dependent on oral care and the types of foods you eat.
Remember to enjoy yourself and not let this get in the way too much. For example, if you’re going out for dinner with friends the next night, and if you’re having a pasta, go for a white pasta instead of red. And if you’re having wine, go for white instead of red. A little trick if you need your coffee is to use a straw!
